CHANDIGARH: In a major recruitment drive, Punjab cabinet on Tuesday approved the filling up of 3,669 vacancies against the 4,069 newly created posts in the health department.
The cabinet decided that Punjab government will fill through direct recruitment 3,208 posts including 1,188 medical officers, 1,647 paramedical staff and 373 ministerial cadre. The remaining 404 posts would be outsourced. The cabinet also gave approval to the draft bill for establishing self-financing private university by the name of Guru Kashi University at Talwandi Sabo in district Bathinda by Balaji Educational Trust. The university would make provisions for instruction, teaching, education, training and related activities at all levels in disciplines of higher education including professional, medical, technical, general education, religious, language and literature in consonance with the Punjab Private Universities Policy-2010.
Amended draft of Punjab Private Universities Policy-2010 for establishing self-financed private universities in the state was also approved. The chief minister has been authorized to make suitable amendments in this policy in future as per the requirements from time to time. The cabinet approved exemption from registration fee and stamp duty for the documents to be registered relating to all educational loans up to Rs 5 lakh.
